Emerald Green Bridal Earrings

Emerald green bridal earrings - these three charming pairs I originally found on Etsy priced at a very affordable $18 to $44. As I update this post - in the summer of 2017 - the emerald green stud earrings are the only ones listed for sale today. My favorite (shown at top) is a pair of sterling silver earrings with sparkling faceted 18 x 13 mm oval emerald Swarovski crystals. A shade of green so exquisite that it symbolizes elegance, beauty, and enhances well-being. Sadly, when I enter "Victorian emerald earrings" into Etsy's search box, I don't see anything offered as breathtakingly beautiful as the pair you see here today.

Eco-Friendly Favor Ideas

Here's an eco-friendly favor idea that is more than just colorful, cheap and charming. These plantable seed paper hearts, available in over thirty sweet colors from soft pink to pomegranate to royal purple to plum - are only eight cents each. Select a variety of colors or choose just one. These one inch hearts (100 for $13.00) make small but perfect thank you gifts that will bloom in a garden instead of taking up space in a landfill. And to leave an even smaller carbon footprint - if you choose the gray, they are made from recycled newspapers and if you select the brown, they are made from recycled grocery bags.

Green Floral Wedding Cakes

Green floral wedding cakes - each of these are a lovely pastel shade of green (emerald, sage and mint) and are a breathtakingly beautiful choice for a spring or summer wedding. Did you know green is the color most commonly associated with freshness, hope, rebirth and renewal? The cake that steals my heart away is featured directly below, with perfect hand sculpted sugar paste flowers - pale cabbage roses, oversized pink peonies and green hydrangea blossoms. Small fondant dots surround each layer like a string of lovely vintage pearls and makes this wedding cake almost too unforgettable to eat.

Pink Peony Bridal Bouquets

Pink peony bridal bouquets - I love your lush, full rounded blooms! Because peonies are at their most exquisite beauty in late spring or early summer, these gorgeous pink blossoms often symbolize female fertility and are highly regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage. Always one of the most popular wedding flowers, expect to pay as much as $10 per stem in March, three dollars less in the peak wedding months of April through June, and then back up to around $10 in the months of July to September. Pink peonies are most affordable than white and because of their unique size (from 2 to 10 inches in diameter) you may need only a few stems to create a breathtakingly beautiful pink peony bouquet.

Bridal Shower Cupcake Ideas

Easy and elegant - that's what I'm looking for in bridal shower cupcakes. Okay, I will invest a Saturday afternoon on cupcakes so sensational, friends and family are begging for them morning, noon and night. But it's no secret I'm a major fan of four ingredients or less. These remarkable red velvet cupcakes are made from a mix! One secret Oreo cookie is hiding at the bottom of each bite. To make the icing, put your Oreos (without the white filling) in a plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin before you add them to the homemade icing. Make the crumbs very fine or they'll get stuck in the tip of your piping bag.

DIY Wedding Cookie Buffets

DIY wedding cookie buffets - check out this fabulous idea using kraft paper shown below. Always a great idea to include these favorites (fudge, sugar, chocolate chip and iced oatmeal), but also that special cookie that no one expects, which may be the most popular of all. Having said that, have you ever in your entire life met anyone - young or old - who didn't love the taste of Reese's peanut butter cups? You'll need a mini muffin pan to make this recipe and you definitely want to pop those peanut butter cups in the freezer before pressing the unwrapped candy into your hot, freshly baked cookies.

peanut butter cup cookies
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (crunchy is okay too)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 T milk
  • 40 miniature chocolate covered Reese's peanut butter cups, unwrapped
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.

2. Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well. Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan.

3. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan.

Button Wedding Ideas

Beautiful buttons - those humble little wooden and plastic discs we dispatched to the bottom of the sewing box have come out of hiding and transformed themselves into beautiful button bouquets, boutonnieres, favors and centerpieces. Too bad we didn't scoop up all of Grandma's charming vintage buttons when we had the chance! See how easily you and I could create a one-of-a-kind button ring bearer pillow - as shown below - with a collection of brightly colored buttons in hot pink, blue, orange and lovely lime green.  Or choose buttons that match the season like copper, sage green, cinnamon and wine for a fall themed wedding.

Black and White Damask Favors

Black and white damask favors - elegant and lovely especially for formal celebrations or a winter themed wedding. I love these small damask favor bags I found today online at Beau Coup. These measure 3.5 by 3 inches and are the perfect size for a few chocolates, nuts or even a small gift such as a round personalized magnet. At just over $15 for a set of twenty five, these small favor bags with coordinating black and white ribbon will cost you just sixty cents each.

Peacock Bridal Hair Clip

Originally I found this peacock hair clip with a combination of bright turquoise, bronze and blue peacock feathers, Russian netting and curly iridescent plumes accented with a stunning rhinestone jewel on Etsy for $64.00 plus shipping. This dramatic headpiece was listed as 4.5 x 5.5 inches with an alligator clip for secure hold and easy positioning. Either it was advertised as a "best seller" or I came to that conclusion on my own based on the large number of sales. As I update this in 2017, this peacock style hair clip is no longer available, but I have seen smaller versions - designed with feathers and rhinestone button embellishments - for less than $20.

Mason Jar Bridal Shower Invitations

These Mason Jar bridal shower invitations are available in 5 x 7 (portrait) and 7 x 5 (landscape), and sell for $2.53 per card for a set of twenty.  For an addition twenty to 25 cents, you can choose a custom edge which includes rounded, bracket, scalloped, ticket or tag. This rustic bridal shower invitation has an easy template to customize with your own names, photo, date, time and location. It's down to earth, friendly and fun. A warm and welcome invite for a rustic themed bridal shower or country style wedding.

Romantic First Dance Wedding Songs

Did you have a romantic first dance wedding song? Or did you let cute and quirky be your guide? I still don't know why my lovely daughter Danielle chose Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" to dance with her adoring Dad, but the two of them loved the lyrics so well, who was I to rain on their parade. "At Last" released by Etta James in 1960 appears to be one of the most popular first dance songs in America, followed closely by Frank Sinatra's soulful ballad, "The Way You Look Tonight."

Oh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
for you are mine...

Birdcage Veils - 3 Stunning Styles!

Have birdcage veils lost their popularity? When Kate Middleton wore a waist length veil on her wedding to Prince William, and her sister Pippa chose a two-tier cathedral length veil with embroidered pearls, these dramatic veils found favor again with brides at home and abroad. But if you're looking for comfort, convenience and affordability, the bird cage veils shown below - paired with an exquisite rhinestone brooch, a feather fascinator, or all by itself, would still be perfect choice for a beach, garden or destination wedding.

Burlap Wedding Banners

Burlap wedding banners - these are just a few that I found today at Etsy. Not only are these banners affordable, $24 for "Just Hitched," which measures approximately sixteen inches and 28 inches (top and bottom) with an additional six inches of ribbon on each. Burlap is a coarsely woven cloth made of fibers of jute, flax, or hemp. Once thought to be used only for mundane jobs like storing potatoes, turnips, onions and coffee beans - burlap is now celebrated in pillows, placemats, table runners, curtains, ring bearer pillows and wedding favor bags. Stitched and stenciled, these sweet and simple burlap banners are perfect for a fall wedding and outdoor reception.

Snowflake Wedding Cupcakes

Snowflake wedding cupcakes - what a fun and festive winter wedding idea. Many of these are just ordinary frosted cupcakes (in red, white or green) with a star or snowflake sugar cookie nestled on top. And yet they look professionally made. Why not give these a try? Sugar cookie dough can be frozen for up to three months. Thaw dough overnight in the refrigerator, roll it out 1/4 inch thick and cut your snowflake cookie shapes. Or bake them in advance, freeze on a baking sheet until they are solid. Place them in Ziploc bags and put them in the freezer up to three months for best results.
